The flower beds with succulentsrepresent a low maintenance green space solution. Theflower beds of succulentsthey are only suitable for those who live in Southern Italy, where the air is hot in summer and where there are no excessively cold temperatures in winter.
Flower beds with succulents
Thesucculentthey do not need great maintenance because they do not shed leaves, do not dirty and do not require constant irrigation. You do not even have to install a fixed irrigation system because the water supply is sporadic even in the hottest periods of the year.

The soil must be well drained because succulent plants do not tolerate water stagnation. Sun exposure is required: succulents should receive several hours of sunshine a day with adequate humidity.
Which succulents to grow outdoors

The soil must be characterized by an acidic pH reaction. A basic pH will tend to block the development of the plant and prevent the absorption of certain nutrients. How to set up a flower bed of succulent plants
First, draw the perimeter of the flower beds by tracing it with stones, tuff blocks, stones or bricks. The bricks should not be placed only on the external perimeter, it could be convenient to create waves or geometric shapes to separate the various species.
Of the plants mentioned, aloe versa also lends itself to being grown along a wall. If your flowerbed runs along a low or high wall, aloe is the plant for you.
Alongside aloe, agave attenuata can be grown. At the foot of these taller plants, various plants ofHaworthia. There are many species of Haworthia, from the characteristic truncata to the most classic bandaged. During the summer, these succulents produce bell-shaped pink flowers. Agave and aloe also bloom.
Rebutia sees the classic globular stem surrounded by thin spines. Like thesucculent plantsmentioned earlier this also offers beautiful flowers. Flowering is summer and the flowers have an intense orange color. Among the most common species in Italy we point out the minuscule Rebutia, as the name suggests it has a minimal development: the stem reaches a maximum diameter of 6 cm and has a very limited height. Based on the planted species, you can create nice plays of color: some plants have an orange bloom, others pink, yellow or red.
Even with Echeveria plants you have a large choice. There are many species that you can house in quantity in yoursflowerbed of succulent plants. For example, Echeveria coccinea has thin leaves and red flowers in the center and yellow at the edges. The Echeveria pubescens species has red and orange flowers and the leaves are covered with a thick silvery hair of strong impact. The foliage of the Echeveria derembergii species is particular: the leaves are green but towards the edges they turn red.
To keep theflowerbed of succulentsand limit the growth of certain plants, you can hypothesize to bury large pots in which you have planted the species with the most limited development.
