Food intolerance, different from allergies but often confused with them. In the first case, these are adverse reactions that the body has towards certain foods, while when we talk about food allergies, we mean the reactions that trigger starting from the immune system with its antibodies. We often start from the belief that food intolerances have "softer" effects than allergies, but it should be noted that this varies greatly on a case-by-case basis and depending on the quantity of "NO" food that is ingested.

Food intolerances: blood test

There are tests for food intolerances of conventional and unconventional, In the first case we range between allergy tests such as the Prick Test, the Prick by Prick, the RAST, the Prist, the Patch test, the Triggering test. These are "tests" that allow us to exclude that we suffer from a certain allergy. To carry out these tests is necessary go to a doctor's office, they are often accompanied by other tests such as spirometry, medical examination and clinical examinations.

Tests that do not fall under the diagnosis plan offered by the National Health Service they are by definition the unconventional ones, among these there are some that are particularly popular such as the Alcat Test, the Vega test, the Mora test, the Bio Strength Meter and the Creavutest, quite widespread in Italy. When the doctor does theanamnesis and prescribes a certain diet, it can also make us do the Breath-test for lactose intolerance.

Food and gluten intolerances

It is quite common togluten intolerance, difficult to distinguish from allergy as it also happens with other foods. Those who are most often the protagonists of these problems are wheat, dairy products and eggs. There are also enzymatic food intolerances such as lactose contained in milk, or favism, or intolerances more related to substances with pharmacological activity such as vasoactive amines.

There are people who turn out intolerant to caffeine and ethyl alcohol, or to certain food additives. It is not easy to identify the cause of intolerances and are often a mixture of factors of different types. An important role is played by the hereditary factor but certainly those linked to diseases, stress, unbalanced diet and alterations of the intestinal bacterial flora also contribute.

Food intolerances: symptoms

The symptoms of food intolerance, difficult to recognize them at first sight and without fail because they coincide with the symptoms of many other pathologies. Food intolerances can cause acne, loss of appetite but also increased appetite and weight, or blisters and burning on the tongue.

It can also happen that we turn our head due to food intolerances or that they suddenly catch us stomach or abdominal cramps. Symptoms also include diarrhea, depression, regurgitation, constipation and colds.

Bloating food intolerance

We have not forgotten about one of the symptoms not only the most common but also the most unpleasant of food intolerances: bloating of the stomach. Then linked to flatulence and other equally unwanted symptoms.

Among the recurrent ailments caused by food intolerance there are those on the gastrointestinal level, but let's not forget that the symptoms are also dermatological or respiratory. It is not uncommon for colds to appear, for example, as well as dermatitis, hives, acne and other skin rashes.

Imaginary food intolerances

Among the corollaries of the food intolerance there are also those that are not but that we often imagine there are. The imaginary intolerances. It is true that they are a problem if we start to believe seriously that we suffer from them by reducing the variety of foods ingested to the detriment of our health and our joy linked to enjoying different and pleasant flavors.

We are not talking about a niche phenomenon but about about 8 million Italians who say they are convinced of having absolutely unsubstantiated food intolerances. This estimate comes from the Italian Society of Asthma Allergy and Clinical Immunology (SIAAIC). To confuse the ideas there are also non-scientifically validated tests that support the thesis of the imaginary patients.

Who is convinced they have food intolerance he often does it in front of signs that cause him to alarm: not being able to lose weight, feeling tired for no reason, digesting badly often suffering from headaches or joint pains. A good book that clarifies can be purchased online and tells "Recent discoveries and the definitive solution”.
